A hobbyist named MyMagicPudding took on the challenge of bringing the iconic PIP-Boy 3000 from the popular Fallout video game series to life.
The PIP-Boy 3000 is a wrist-mounted computer that plays a significant role in the game. MyMagicPuddings version was based on an HTC Desire HD mobile phone, which they cleverly integrated into a custom-made case.
To stay true to the game, the interface of the wrist mounted computer used physical buttons and dials instead of the HTCs touchscreen. An Arduino Uno facilitated communication between the external inputs and the phone via TCP over USB.
Despite some soldering challenges and limited space behind the facade, the end result looked impressive.
